Parade Rules

PLEASE READ VERY CAREFULLY ** 

  • ENTRY MUST HAVE AN IRISH THEME AND/OR BE DECORATED IN IRISH COLORS. ALL VEHICLES MUST BE DECORATED (WITH THE EXCEPTION OF VINTAGE CARS). 
  • Absolutely ​NO THROWING candy or other objects from the entry or vehicles.  
  • Additional walkers may ​hand items out​ at the curb. Individuals handing out items must keep up with their entry. No lagging behind, disrupting other entries. ​
  • No paper handouts, advertising, coupons, stickers or balloons.  All of these create litter.   Call if you have any questions.
  • NO ALCOHOL consumption or display of alcohol during the parade or in the staging area. 
  • The staging area opens at 11:00 AM. Someone ​must accompany the entry at all times.  Do not bring your entry to the staging area and leave it. 
  • Participants must obey ​SaPaDaPaSo Parade Marshals.   Entries​ will receive their parade number from the Parade Marshal when entering the staging area. ​ Please tape the number on the front right-hand side of your vehicle window or on your​ banner. Return the number to the designated Parade Marshal at the end of the parade. ​  
  • All entrants must continue to move forward during the parade.  No stopping or performing on the parade route or in front of judges stand. 
  • Maximum Entry height is 13’, ​Maximum width is 24’0, ​Maximum ​length is 55’0” ​
  • EACH ENTRY IS ALLOWED 3 MOTORIZED VEHICLES.   NO RAGBRAI / PARTY BUSES 
  • PLEASE NOTE: The city enforces a no parking rule along the parade route. This will be strictly enforced.   Please spread the word to all members of your group and any attendees you may know​. 
  • PLEASE NOTE: Failure to comply with the rules can result in disqualification for awards and/or removal from the parade or future parades.
  • SaPaDaPaSo will dispatch entries in numerical order.
